Day 12, September 17, 2017 - Evolution Lake to Big Pete Meadow

Day 12.  32 f again this morning and lots of frost.

We got out by about 8:45. As in our past trip, the scenery during the hike around Evolution Lake is spectacular.

Mark stopped at Wanda lake to wash his socks, so I decided to jump in to clean up. I don't recall ever being in water so cold. My neck started hurting before I could get out.

We got to Muir pass around 1pm.

At the pass we dried gear chatted with godongo who was finishing up the PCT  Godongo had lots of good ideas about what worked for food on the trail, most of which we had implemented.  Also got to throw the disc with a guy at the pass, fortunately no injuries.  .

We left the pass at 2 and were treated to incredible views and nearly 3000' of elevation drop.

It is a beautiful walk down, but definitely hard on our old joints.  Had to pass several occupied camp sites and finally found one at 5:45 near Big Pete Meadow. There were several deer in the area that hung around for some time .

Made dinner, enjoyed a campfire, and went to sleep at 9.
Another notable item for this day was my hip. It has bothered me some most days but never for more than a short time. Today it started to bother me immediately when I put my pack on after lunch and did not stop until we got to camp. In camp it didn't hurt but gave out MANY times. I took two naproxin before going to bed.

Our inreach location for the day is here
