Day 9, September 14, 2017 - Upper Bear Meadows to Senger Creek

Today was the first day of frost on our gear.  I had ice on the inside and outside of my tent this morning.

Took a bit to dry out from the rain and hail, got on the trail at ten. A trail angel came by our camp in the morning and asked if we knew how to cross bear Creek feet dry. We had not gotten to that point yet. He yelled to us a few minutes later and I went and saw where we could cross on a tree that had fallen over the creek.  I followed him over there and it was really icy and sketchy on the far side.  Fortunately by the time we were ready to cross the ice on the logs had melted.

We were able to share this information with others during the day. For the most part people have not been very chatty on the trail but today was the exception. Again we hiked through the beautiful Sierras and loved every view that was to be had.

Today's lunch top goal was atop Seldon pass.  Maggie lake is just below the pass, and also has some great views.

We reached the pass around one pm

and ate lunch there.

Great views and lots of clouds.

Our next stop was Sallie Keys lakes.

Mark wanted to do some laundry there, and Matt was ready to the the same, as well as jump into the lake to clean up a bit.  We found a snow depth measurement cabin built in 1956, it looked to be in good shape. We set up camp near Senger Creek.
We saw deer around the camp for around an hour.

Dinner of beans, rice and cheese, with mini Snickers for dessert.

Fortunately we were low enough to have a fire as well.  Mark is showing off his Snickers labeled "Drama Mama".

Yesterday was the first time I felt like we don't have enough food, and we ate part of today's lunch snack. After dinner tonight I feel again that I could eat a lot more food. Tomorrow we can eat all we want from the hiker box at MTR.   👍👍
