Day 8, September 13, 2017 - Quail Meadows to Upper Bear Meadows

Day 8.  No rain after going to bed last night, clear skies in the morning. Out of camp at 9:30.  We both felt strong climbing bear ridge, but it seemed to take it out of us later in the day. As throughout the trip, the view were fantastic.

We debated stopping a mile short of our destination but decided to press on. Got to upper bear meadows a bit after four. Today we saw ten different people on the trail, the fewest so far.  About the time we finished setting up camp it started raining.  At 5:35 it started hailing for about two minutes. Pea size. Then the rain really picked up , then more hail.

Bad news, I set my tent up in a very poor drainage area. Good news, it appears to be water tight.  I was in a puddle ~2" deep.  Mark dug a channel for the water to drain, took about twenty minutes. There was a 5000 square foot area draining through my tent spot. Rookie error on my part.
