Day 15. 28f in the morning, ice in the water bucket. Mark's day started at 3:15 when he
slid his air mattress onto a sharp rock and popped it. Beautiful sunrise.

We left camp at 9:15, the climb up offered many splendid views.

Got to Pinchot Pass a bit before 11.

Much easier climb than
Mather pass. I took the climb and the whole day much more slowly and controlled
and felt much better than yesterday.
Hopefully this is not getting boring yet, but we were treated to many great views on the hike down from Pinchot Pass to our lunch spot.

The afternoon was VERY windy. Had a beautiful lunch spot but the wind made it less than optimal.

A few pictures from the hike down the hill

We made it down to the woods Creek Bridge at 4, but it was temporarily closed for renovation. There was a sign at a nearby trail junction that said, “Bridge work ahead, be prepared for 30 minute delay”. Never saw anything like that in the back country before and figured it was a joke. But, some workers were replacing the wooden foot boards of the Woods Creek suspension bridge with a metal screen type.

They completed the job while we waited. The worker told us we were the
first hikers to cross with the job completed.

They were wanting to get out of as they heard a storm is coming tomorrow. We had been hearing about a cold front coming since were were at Muir Trail Ranch, but had not yet seen the change in weather. Well, that would change . . . We got a secluded camp site with cut firewood. This cut wood, along with the wood FireMaster Mark would gather, would come in very handy.

This camp is the same one that I stayed at two years ago when we did a Swider family backpacking trip with the Moirs on the Rae Lakes loop.
