Day 14, September 19, 2017 - Upper Palisades Lake to below Marjorie Lake

Day 14.   30f in the morning at 10,800'. First morning we have some ice in our water bucket.

Due to camping so high, the climb over Mather Pass was not very long.

Unfortunately, the trail was not very nice.  Lots of baseball size rocks on the trail.

And lots of great views up to the pass.

We go to the pass in about an hour and a half.

The view south from Mather Pass were stunning all the way to Pinchot pass.

When we got down to the plateau below the pass a cool wind was blowing, and as was our habit by now, we took in the new views all around.

We hiked til one before finding a good place for lunch.

Great spot right next to a creek. Unfortunately I think the cold wind and trying to hike fast to get out of it really took it out of me and I bonked in the afternoon. After a while I was able to pull it together enough to keep up with Mark. We hiked until around 5pm.

We camped at the second lake in the valley below Pinchot Pass, just a bit below Marjorie Lake. We were again fortunate to be nearly by ourselves in the land of the Sierras.

While we saw around a dozen or so people on the trail, we managed to find camp spots where we were basically by ourselves each night since the camp of Day 3.  No fires since we were above 10,000’ again, so we went to bed early at 8:30.  Good thing, as it was already down to 34F.
