Day 7, September 12, 2017 - near Chief Lake to Quail Meadows

We woke up to clouds and sun, and needed to dry out most of our gear.

We enjoyed breakfast up top and watched the sun rise. We were greeted to a stunning view of Silver Pass when we went to fill up our water bottles in the morning.

The hike up to Silver Pass was fairly easy as we had completed most of the climbing the previous day.  The views back to the north in the morning were great.  Our cook area is just visible in the picture below, and just beyond it in the picture is again Mt. Banner and Mt. Ritter.

We got over silver pass a bit after ten and enjoyed a long hike down for the rest of the day.  The hike down along Silver Pass Creek was very scenic.

We dropped into a couple other canyons on the way.  Many scenic meadows, canyons and peaks.

I usually find flower pictures don't come out that well, but Mark got one near our lunch spot this day is one of the better ones.  We saw lots of flowers during out three weeks on the trail.

We got to camp at Quail Meadows at three. Set up camp, swam in Mono Creek and did laundry and made dinner.

Great bacon cheese bread and pasta soup again.

Bad news, I spilled dinner before we got to eat it.  Good news, fortunately it fell onto Marks tyvek pictured above.  Crisis averted.

We got a few light showers and there was plenty of thunder nearby. We had a fire that night, which Mark used to try to dry his socks.  Bad new, Mark burned a sock trying to dry it by the fire on a stick.

Good news, he managed to find a replacement pair a couple days later at Muir Trail Ranch.
